Born to
becoming a blonde, talented singer, bass player and songwriter in Bon Air, Virginia –
Aimee Mann after her New Wave group Til Tuesday broke-up finally decided to
move on in solo while also backing up some recording vocals for Matthew Sweet
to Cyndi Lauper before courageously releasing her second solo efforts with a
simple title album – I’m with Stupid that produced by Jon Brion (also playing
bass guitar, harmonica, cello and drums on the album) with berbard Butler on
electric guitars, Mike Deneen on keyboards and other names from Stacey Jones to
Juliana Hatfield and Michael Penn. This album perfectly got public attentions
because one of the hit single That’s Just What You Are becoming the soundtrack
of one most famous television series – Melrose Place and since then, Aimee Mann
got her stars brightened back again. Instead just focusing on the media hit
single; everyone who isn’t stupid) should also try to listening for more tracks
recorded inside this album which sounded better than just an average
Alternative Pop record – Sugarcoated, You Could Make a Killing, All Over Now
and Choice in the matter that mostly written by the duet of Ms. Mann and Mr.
Brion would be not disappointing at all; bringing the cleverness and
preparation of sweetener melodies to the simple harmony of American Folk Pop
roots enjoying its existence on the regular music charts where it should belong
…
Cutey album !
