Chitaroptera Maiastra (AFM Records 2008)

Just listening to this epic cracking noises of Heavy Metal with symphonic melodies sounds from the Romanian band Magica might not be too easy to do but when one got the chance to have it, just considers it as a rare opportunity because this Constanta group's fourth album - Wolves and Witches must probably be one of their best releasings so far by putting the beasty best mixing of Epic Metal, Symphonic Goths, traditional classic sounds and powerful lyrics and themes within the lining-up of a great lead vocalist Ana Mladinovici, Bogdan "Bat" Costea, Valentin Zechiu, Cristi "Beavis" Barla, Sorin Vlad and Sebastian Natas. Mostly written in a very fast tempos but artistically influenced by Eastern European cultures like a descendent of NWOBHM's version of Ronnie Dio's Heaven and Hell or Holy Diver Folkish anthems with their lyrics telling stories about Witchcrafting, Werewolves, Female Sisterhood or the Coven of the Ancient Secret Society as well as the ritualistic spells and mantras of the Epic Battle Metal heroine background sounds; completed with fantastic licks and melodies or thus villainy clean vocals by the dark-haired Ana. From Hold on Tight, Don't Wanna Kill, Dark Secret, Mistress of The Wind ot the bonus track In The Depth of The Lake; we all shall becoming a silent end of the line audience on watching the intrics and the frictions between the Witches and the Werewolves endless fight result about whose going to win and conquers the others upon this total Power Metal melodic clashes.

A classic catalog offering !
