New Senses Scaring (Serenades Records 1999)

Penumbra is refer to the shadow part where the light source only partially blocked causing a partially edges object shadow but on this case; a French Gothic Metal band from Paris which combining their raw melodies of Black Metal and the symphonic Goth Metal influences delivered by two format vocals of male/female growler harmony and magnificent orchestration and string arrangements for their sound. The debut album Emanate showing us the total power of extremeity in nominee of Heavy Metal as the group themselves consisting with seven members from vocalist/oboeist Jarlaath, Scyllia on female vocals, Medusa (female vocals) to guitarist Dorian, bassist Aldric, the keyboardist Zoltan and Hekchen on drums blasting thus darker noise of the hatred/romantic communion of both Gothic, symphonic and Black Metal alliance on one album.
Emanate truly preferring the chaotic and complicated harmony tones combination with the standard speed of underground Metal Music and the necromantic influences ripped or rotted like flowers on a cult ritual as Penumbra blasting their tracks into your ears and making them shaken with Bloody Experience, Falling Into my Soul, Doppleganger or Underwater Dream; slicing the thin air around Eiffel Tower or killing the innocent couple under the famous Arc De Triomphe intersection. You shall can’t remember what terrible things that you did last time before you decided to listening to this album.
