Onward
continuing their Mark Kozelek from his previous band fixing the mistakes and
starting a new one this time only accompanied by his compatriot friend; drummer
Anthony Koutsos with Tim Mooney and bassist Geoff Stanfield as trio named Sun
Kil Moon. More about acoustic shaped kind of Folk Rock influences than Indie
Rock outfit; Sun Kil Moon might sometimes surprising us when they’re not in the
mood for writing songs about the life stories of boxers and such but more to
wandering in outdoor wilderness just like what they’re doing on Benji (the
album) where we not only witnessing the might of will and strong basic of Mark
Kozelek’s music base but also the stronger symphonic inside the barefooted
ordinary and daily story from collectible past or present for the futuristic
legacy using the cynical and aesthetical Folkish Rock and Pop models wrapping
the courageous and reckless songs to be admired like I Can’t live without my
mother’s love or Truck Driver and Dogs to Pray for Newton or Carissa.
Mesmerizing since the start ...
