Shell Down (Obsidian Records 2008)

The combination between an intimate sorrow melodic one can be found through Goth-Rock or suicidal Grunge music grabbing the cords of red-lining indifference to the total annihilation form over Death Metal thicker influences obviously seen or heard clearly on this Brisbane, Queensland’s Progressive Death Metal troops whose calling themselves ‘Neath. As they’re originally consisting of quartet: drummer Jonathan Moore, Tim Dowdle the shredder, bassist David Lingard and Boyd Potts on vocals and keyboards; making the formation of the band a little bit risky the first time you know them but later on through the band’s second efforts entitled The Small Untruth – then, the audiences can freely recognizing them as a brilliant and talented Metalheads whom playing the Progressive roots and total devastation Death Metal in such an artistic, completed and not monotonous as this album proving that you’re making a right decision for choosing ‘Neath. Spliting facts and how rare this album would become harder to find for adding your Extreme Metal collections on the other hand is quite a story to tell or do but while got the chance to listening to them here just don’t let yourself missed the absurdity lyrics and devastating sounds perfoming by them through the groovy death melodic tracks like Paintings, Worm or Remember; might giving you a slight images of being carried out by the extremity sounds of the ghastly tree of spirits into the realm of Progressive Darker Music which controlled by James Maynard Keenan and his Tool legacy.
